Making a Mini Photo Zine
Coney Island, Winter 2012
One month after Hurricane Sandy, I found myself with an extra hour in hand, waiting to shoot an assignment in Coney Island. As I walked the area, the storm’s devastation hung in the air. But light never falls on Coney Island without grace, even when the people, the buzzing storefronts, and the familiar metal-on-metal clank of the rides sit quietly.
The small format, designed to fit in the palm of a hand, is a nod to the iPhone camera I used that morning.
16 pages, printed on archival matte photo paper and hand-stitched with lightly-waxed linen thread. Made in my Washington Heights studio.
“Coney Island” is a part of “New York Quartet” limited series.
