A series of handmade photo zines printed and hand-stitched in my Washington Heights studio.
Handmade Zines
New York Quartet
A set of four handmade mini photozines with a New York theme.
Coney Island, Winter 2012
One month after Hurricane Sandy, I found myself with an extra hour in hand, waiting to shoot an assignment in Coney Island. As I walked the area, the storm’s devastation hung in the air.
But light never falls on Coney Island without grace, even when the people, the buzzing storefronts, and the familiar metal-on-metal clank of the rides sit quietly.
This is the first handmade mini photo zine I’ve made in my studio. The small format, designed to fit in the palm of a hand, is a nod to the iPhone camera I used that morning.
Sixteen pages, printed on archival matte photo paper and hand-stitched with lightly-waxed linen thread—each one assembled, folded, and bound start to finish in my Washington Heights studio.

Impositions 2011-2014
Reworked through layers of digital “exposure,” these iPhone images of New York City carry traces of time and place folding over themselves. Some frames blend two moments, others as many as five.
The title speaks to how experiencing New York City for the first time reassembles itself over time into a layered, dream-like memory.
Each 16-page zine is printed on archival matte photo paper and hand-stitched with lightly-waxed linen thread—assembled start to finish in my Washington Heights studio.

New York, 2011–2014
Titled after the word printed boldly across its cover, this issue leans into simplicity. Inside is a collection of stolen moments, bold gestures, and quiet confidence. This New York, in contrast to GothAM, offers a peek at the city’s dark humor in play—24/7.

Gotham Motif, 2011–2014
Leaning into the nickname given to New York by Washington Irving, I wanted to pay tribute to stories told in still life and in the shadows. These pictures bend toward the surreal and the absurd, hiding in plain sight amid the city’s constant play of contradiction.
